Two weeks before we were to depart on our 2026 adventure, we decided to take one last hurrah out to one of our favourite boondocking sites.
About 2.5 hours from home, a truck – a simple passenger truck passed us on the highway. We heard a loud sound as he passed, kind of like Velcro, but a lot of it! I looked around ‘The Cabin’ (as we call our van) from my front seat, but I didn’t see anything unusual. A short time later, another truck passed us, and there was an enormous “SWOOSH” noise. This time, when I looked back, I could see the pillowcase on the bed moving. “Is the back window on your side of the cabin open?” I asked Eric. He looked in his side mirror towards the window in question and replied. “There is no back side window. It’s gone.”

Long story short. It’s a custom window that is manufactured in the USA. We won’t get it for a month. So we ordered that one and ALSO got a plain window that was installed 6 days before we left. Whew!

Excellent! We’re back on schedule! Oh. Wait.
The RV fridge is on the blink. The freezer works, but the fridge won’t get cooler than 17 degrees. The whole unit is on one fuse. Make it make sense! OK. Plan B. Take the plug-in cooler (it’s not huge) and use a lot of ice in the fridge. Not ideal, but definitely a solid plan B.
